I have tried
Pushed forth and reached for the sky
I dreamed about it every night and day
But somehow I have lost my way

I wished and prayed for more
Attempting to get my foot in the door
I have studied and prepared
But I have tried and I have failed

I can’t say I’m where I want to be
But it’s better than living life on my knees
I have yet to reach my destiny
And I can’t let doubt get the best of me

Moments of reservation
“What have I become?”
Worrying about my tomorrows
In fear that my dreams will never come

But I am that woman
Whose words are like magic
Her tongue is sharp like a sword
And her mind is open to explore

I will be that woman
Who exceeds her own expectations
Has written one of the world’s greatest novels
And lives life doing what she loves

I am that woman
Who will not admit defeat
Nobody can stop her
She can do anything

She falls hard
But is able to stand
She was lost at sea
But made her way to land
She now stretches her arms towards the sky
And with all her might she will learn how to fly.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.”
